Dialog: "Role Assignment"

Each cockpit defines a set of roles that specify how the data attributes are used in the cockpit. In the simplest case, the roles correspond closely to the data types, where numeric data attributes are used as variables, categorical data attributes as categories, and date/time-typed data attributes as the time axis. You may, however, also declare a numeric data attribute to be used as data categories.

In Visplore Professional, roles are even more important. For example, roles allow for defining numeric data attributes as setpoints or tolerance limits of other data attributes. Some cockpits also require the definition of dependent and independent variables via roles.

For assigning roles, select the role on the left-hand side and use the checkboxes of the listed data attributes to (un-)assign the selected role to them. Some roles are optional, while others are mandatory. Furthermore, some roles can only be applied to a limited number of data attributes and may be restricted to certain data types.
