Quality monitoring and improvement are a key element for customer satisfaction and among the top data use cases in Industry 4.0. In many cases, however, the main challenge is not so much the sheer quantity of quality samples, but the large variety of products, grades, plants, quality characteristics, and more. The oftentimes huge number of combinations of all these factors can make it very difficult to maintain a permanent overview of existing quality issues or deteriorating trends for specific products in specific plants. This may lead to situations where problems go unnoticed and corrective actions are being taken too late, causing expensive issues such as customer complaints.
