New Features in Visplore 2021b

Author: Harald Piringer – November, 2021

Watch the video recording of our free webinar on the “Highlights of the new Visplore version” from Tuesday, December 14, 2021. There, the founders of Visplore Harald Piringer and Thomas Mühlbacher presented the highlights of the new version, useful hints for Visplore users and a brief outlook to the roadmap in 2022.

We are proud to present a large number of new features, use-cases and workflows covered by the newest release of Visplore Free, Discovery and Professional. This blog demonstrates selected highlights.

New in Visplore

Integrated help

We want to answer your questions where they come up – directly in the program. Therefore, all visualizations and most dialogs and menus offer direct access to appropriate help through a “?” button. With lots of information and tips and tricks. A look into the help is worthwhile: the Getting Started part has been significantly expanded and a new section explains all visualization types and how you can make best use of them.

Find essential features easier

Did you know how easy it is to export visualizations as graphs or data tables? The new version makes it easier to find essential features also for new or occasional users. Configuration and export features are now consistently offered at the top right corner of each view. All workflows based on data selections are easily accessible from the selection bar.

More flexibility for bar charts and heat maps

In the new version, you can configure bar charts and heat maps much more flexibly. Bar length, area and color can be freely defined. In addition, you can now use bar charts as stacked bars and also display categories as color in heat maps. So, there are now even more possibilities to design your cockpits.

Extended data cleansing

The new version offers additional options for the preparation of time series. Selectively transfer data from other time series or replace values from previous days or weeks from the own time series. In addition, it has become easier to select and edit missing values.

Sub-second timestamps

Since this version, timestamps can be more finely resolved – down to microseconds. This makes it much easier to use Visplore for data from many measurement systems and IoT applications. The new version also does the merging of date and time columns by itself.

Improved scalability for 1000+ variables

Many applications involve the analysis of several hundred to several thousand variables. Handling such data sets is now much more performant. This includes accelerated launch times of cockpits. Furthermore, overviews support variables to be selected any time – even while the visualization is being updated.

Lightweight installation and licensing – also in cloud-environments

Visplore Free has never required administrator rights to install. Now, also Visplore Discovery and Visplore Professional are available as installers which do not need administrator rights. A new, cloud-based licensing system makes license activation as simple as entering a code. And all Visplore versions can now be installed and used in cloud environments like Azure, AWS,..

Many more improvements …

That’s still not all. There are dozens of additional improvements all across the system. For example, improved functions to categorize quantitative variables. Enhanced visualization of multiple time segments in Time Series plots. More robustness for the OSISoft PI connector which considers the access rights of tags. And much more.
